Red Sun is the journal of the Peru People's
Momement (MPP). It is once again being published after an absence of
over three years Here is an extract from an editorial to its readers:
Red Sun is newly appearing again after three years of hard and fierce
struggle. Today, despite the fact that the situation is still complex and
difficult, we have been able to overcome the opposition. This opposition
is nothing more than positions which converge with the ROL (the revisionist
and capitulationist Right Opportunist Line). The non-publication of Red Sun
along with the problems presented in the fulfillment of the tasks of the
MPP (to wit: support the People's War in Peru; assist in the constitution,
reconstitution or development of Communist Parties; and serve the World
Proletarian Revolution, and within this the RIM), have to do with problems
linked to the struggle. This opposition to the fulfillment of the tasks of
the MPP are forms of convergence with the ROL to different degrees. For this
reason we emphasize that we should leave aside petty struggles and center
on the defense of the Basis of Party Unity, putting strategic matters ahead
of the daily problems which obscure. In this way a very important victory
for the Party and Chairman Gonzalo begins to form. The unmistakable proof
of this is that capitulation and splitting begins to be ward off, which shows
that in general, far from centering on individual interests, almost all are
for moving forward and for the fulfilling of the tasks which the Party has
entrusted to the MPP. The determining factor of this victory for Chairman
Gonzalo, in reference to the international work, has been, is and shall be
the advance of the People's War, which currently finds itself totally resolving
the overcoming of the bend in the road. The current situation defined by
the Party is a situation in which "the winds blow in our favor." It was Chairman
Gonzalo himself in his speech from 1992 who said that his capture was nothing
more than a bend in the road, a bend in the road before which he himself,
at that moment, gave the directive to strengthen the forces to continue
fulfilling our tasks and reach our goal: Victory. The key question has been,
is and shall continue to be the defense of the Great Leadership and Basis
of Party Unity, and the principal thing is to continue forward and continue
developing the People's War.
